Getting Started
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Wayne County Dog Shelter! We are actively seeking volunteers to walk dogs and to assist us at the Wayne County Fair.
New Volunteers: You must complete an orientation prior to volunteering. No worries, it can all be done right here online! Please let us know if you have any questions. We can't wait to see you and thank you for making a difference in the lives of our furry friends.
First Steps
1. Create an account on the platform!
2. Complete your prerequisites.
- Waiver of Liability (Will need completed yearly)
- Online Volunteer Orientation (Will take approximately 45 minutes, only needs completed one time.)
- Test your knowledge over the orientation material.

What's Next?
- Once you've created your account and completed your prerequisites we recommend you download the Cause Connect app for convenience.
- Give us a call to schedule a one on one tour of the Shelter to help you get acquainted with our facility and our dogs.
- If you have volunteered with us before you can start using the app right away! View all of our available programs and opportunities at the click of a button. Sign in when you arrive right from your phone. Cause Connect will track your hours and provide you with helpful feedback about your volunteer journey.
