The first is a Medical Donation. Our Medical Fund allows dogs that are injured or ill to receive veterinarian care. Often times dogs come to our shelter that need medical attention and we are able to provide them the opportunity to get better through out Medical Fund. When you specify Medical Donation you also have the opportunity to request that your donation be used for a certain dog. The Medical Fund is also used to support our Spay and Neuter Initiative. Help us alter 450 dogs in 2024 by writing Spay & Neuter in the donation line under the Medical Fund.
The second option is a General Donation. Monies received as a general donation can be used as the shelter sees fit. General Donations have been used in the past for extra needs that the shelter experiences, helping to fund an event, or to purchase a specific item for the shelter.
Regardless of which donation you choose please know a few things...1. We greatly appreciate your support and wouldn't be able to provide exceptional care for our dogs without you. 2. Your donation will be handled with care and used to better the health of a dog or improve the shelter, depending upon which donation type you choose. 3. You are making a difference in the lives of stray dogs in Wayne County and the shelter is very grateful for your contribution.
Anyone is able to sponsor a dogs adoption fee, but if you are unable to adopt, foster, or volunteer, sponsoring a dog adoption is the next best thing! It is easy to sponsor a dog! You may choose any of the dogs on our adoption floor and pay for their fee up front. The fee is $59.00 and we accept cash, check, or credit card ($2 processing fee applies with all cards). We love it when sponsors stop by the shelter and take a photo with the dog they sponsored, although it is not required. We can advertise the sponsorship on our social media platforms and gain more publicity for the dog you choose. If a business decides to sponsor we would also be happy to advertise your logo with the dog that is sponsored.
Just because a dog is sponsored does not mean that anyone can come to our shelter and adopt a dog for free. The adopter is still responsible for the dog license fee of $16 and they still have to fill out an application and be approved. Many of our adopters have had the benefit of adopting a sponsored dog. It is always such a joy to see them react to the news and even pay it forward in some cases.
For more information on sponsoring a dog please contact the shelter at 330-345-1018.
Make a donation in honor or memory of a beloved person or pet and we will mail a card to whomever you wish telling them about your donation (we do not disclose the donation amount).
Bequests can be made in a new will, or an existing will can be easily amended to include a bequest to the Wayne County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center. An unrestricted bequest is one that allows our department to direct your gift where it will have the greatest impact. A restricted bequest allows you to designate what you would like the gift to be used for.
